What other travelers are saying about Snow Peak Okuhita
Good camping site with great views. Prices start at 1620 (1site for 1tent, 1 car and up to 6 people included). Sites A & B (free camping, electricity at additional charge) are more isolated and and calmer. They accept credit cards and have a Snow peak gear shop. Overally the place looks new and well kept. The downsides are the noise and the light pollution (especially around the main entrance). The place has some cabins and houses to rent and seemed to be popular with lots of groups in the weekend. Probably worth coming in a week day if you want to relax without the noise around.
This is a fantastic campground. Great service, they sell beer in the little store (if it's open), there is water and toilets.
And it is deep in the mountains. NOBODY around. So nice for feeling like you are out in nature. Also good for star gazing.
There is a Snow Peak store here now! Awesome!
I used it on a Saturday.
The campsite itself is well-maintained and the prices are family-friendly.
I was unable to use the site I reserved due to a double booking, and the response was poor.
Since it's a large company, I get the impression they're inflexible.
It was clearly the campsite's fault.
It's great that it's only 4000 yen and can be used by a family of four.
We used the auto site with power outlet and site C. Site C is the furthest from the management building in the entire campsite, and has a lot of shade because there are many large trees, so it's recommended during hot seasons.
However, in exchange for the quiet and private feeling, it is far from the shower, so those who plan to use the shower may find it a little inconvenient (you can go to the shower building by car until 9 p.m., but after that, cars are prohibited from moving = for noise control purposes).
Each of A, B, C, and D has its own unique feel, with some having shade and some not, some being narrow and some being wide. If you choose a wide site, you can park two cars in a row and it seems like you can pitch two tents. You can use it with two families by paying a little more than the price of one site. It's also recommended for group camping.
Site N, which is closest to the shower building, has no shade and is very wide, so the view from above is magnificent. As this site is not much elevation change, it would be good for families with small children who need to be held.
Site E is on a slope, so there is a huge difference in elevation and I felt that it would be difficult to go back and forth to the toilet.
For a Snow Peak brand, the shower building is old-fashioned and not very stylish, so I deducted points because I wish the shower rooms were newer and more exciting.
