梓川静静的流动贯穿整个上高地，带动整个环境的生态及景色的变化，有新生不息的感觉亦提供了水份和生气给各种林间植动物
梓川发源于飞驒山脉枪岳东侧，流经上高地，在松本盆地形成冲积扇，与奈良井川汇合形成西川，最终在川中岛附近与千曲川（信浓川流经长野县的部分）汇合。 上高地靠近源头处，以其壮丽清澈的河水而闻名，与周围的枪岳和穗高山共同构成了上高地独特的风景。上高地梓川上的桥梁，从下游方向依次为：田代桥、穗高桥、河童桥、明神桥、新村桥和横尾桥，每一座桥都拥有独特的景色。此外，清晨时分，河面上弥漫着薄雾，营造出一种神秘的氛围。

我于1987年8月到访。当时我正在参加一个夏季自行车夏令营，快到阿房峠的时候突然下起了倾盆大雨。我们穿过镰间隧道，到达了上高地。尽管下着瓢泼大雨，我们依然兴致勃勃地在河童桥上拍照。突然，有人喊道：“我们都要淋湿了！”然后纵身跃入河中。见状，我们也纷纷跳入河里。虽然是八月，但梓川的水却冰冷刺骨。
