Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge

Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge holds the distinction of being Japan's first bridge constructed within a special national park area. Construction began in October 1968 to alleviate lakeside traffic congestion and was completed in March 1971. In 1987, the bridge was selected as one of Japan's top 100 roads alongside the Fuji Subaru Line, with a commemorative stone monument erected at the south entrance on the Mount Fuji side.

The bridge spans Lake Kawaguchi from north to south, serving as both a vital transportation link and a premier viewing platform for Mount Fuji. The eastern walkway provides exceptional views of Mount Fuji on clear days, making it a popular photography destination. The strategic positioning allows visitors to capture the iconic reflection of Japan's highest peak in the lake's calm waters below.

Visitors can walk across the bridge to experience panoramic views of the surrounding Fuji Five Lakes region. The bridge is completely free to cross on foot, by bicycle, or by car. Previously, there was a toll system from 1971 to 2005, but this has been abolished for greater accessibility. The pedestrian walkway ensures safe passage for those seeking the perfect Mount Fuji photograph or simply wanting to enjoy the elevated perspective of Lake Kawaguchi.

The bridge is approximately a 30-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station to reach the north side. Several bus stops provide convenient access to both ends of the bridge, with some bus routes crossing directly over it. The area is well-connected to Tokyo by train and bus, making it easily accessible for day trips or longer stays in the Fuji Five Lakes region.
