This tour includes visits to Todai-ji Temple, where you’ll see the giant Great Buddha statue, and Kasuga Taisha Shrine, known for its lovely lanterns and quiet beauty. A professional English-speaking guide will be with you to share interesting facts and make the experience easy to enjoy.

You’ll also walk through Nara Park, where friendly deer walk freely and often come close to visitors. From January 2025, the tour will include a special area of Kasuga Taisha Shrine with old wooden gates, hanging lanterns, and views of an untouched ancient forest. As you travel from Kyoto, enjoy the peaceful countryside scenery along the way.

Good to Know

  • The tour ends at Kyoto Avanti, across from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit.

  • Your e-voucher will be emailed. Please show it at the meeting location.

  • Itinerary and arrival times may change due to traffic or crowd levels.

  • Starting in January 2025, drop-off will only be at Kyoto Avanti.

  • Children aged 5 and under can join for free but will not have a bus seat or meal. Book under the child rate if these are needed.

  • An English-speaking licensed guide will lead the tour. Drivers do not provide guiding services.

  • Please check in at the Sunrise Tours Desk in Kyoto Avanti B1F by 13:20.

More than just Nara Deer
Going into this trip, all I knew about Nara was the deer. I was able to learn that there is more to offer than just deer. I was able to witness the giant Buddha and see the shrines and temples in the area as well. A good 5-hour round trip to experience this. Bucketlist ✅

Very informative journey. We had a good time visiting nara, temple, and had very close encounter with deer roaming in the park. Highly recommend

Please check in at the Sunrise Tours Desk inside Avanti (B1 floor), just across from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit. Make sure to arrive on time so the tour can start smoothly.

Todai-ji Temple and Nara Park
Duration: 70 minutes

See the giant Great Buddha statue inside Todai-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most famous landmarks. Then, take a peaceful walk through Nara Park, where friendly deer roam freely.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine
Duration: 50 minutes

Explore the beautiful grounds of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. From January 2025, the tour includes a special visit area with old wooden gates, hanging lanterns, and views of a forest untouched for over 1,000 years.

Nara Nagomikan
Duration: 20 minutes

Visit a local shop for souvenirs and snacks. Please note this stop may be skipped if the shop is closed or if there are delays.

Kyoto Avanti (Est. 18:30)
31 Higashikujō Nishisannōchō, Minami Ward, Kyoto

After the visit, the bus will take you back to Kyoto. The tour finishes in front of Kyoto Avanti, near Kyoto Station.
