和平祈念公園 位於沖繩本島南部糸滿市的摩文仁丘陵,是為了紀念二戰沖繩戰役中犧牲的眾多人命而設立。園區內的核心是 和平之礎(Cornerstone of Peace),上面刻有在戰役中喪生的所有人名,無論國籍、軍民,象徵對生命的平等尊重。
公園內還設有 沖繩縣立和平祈念資料館,展示沖繩戰役的歷史資料、照片與證言,讓人了解戰爭的慘烈與和平的重要。整個園區環境寧靜莊嚴,面向蔚藍的太平洋,成為悼念亡者、反思戰爭與祈願和平的重要場所。
Peace Memorial Park is located on Mabuni Hill in Itoman City, southern Okinawa. It was established to commemorate the countless lives lost during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II. At the heart of the park stands the Cornerstone of Peace, inscribed with the names of all those who perished in the battle, regardless of nationality, military status, or civilian identity, symbolizing respect for every human life.
The park also houses the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, which presents historical materials, photographs, and testimonies about the battle, conveying the tragedy of war and the value of peace. With its solemn atmosphere and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Peace Memorial Park serves as a place of remembrance, reflection, and a universal call for peace.
