Doho Park

Doho Park is the largest park in Tsukuba City, located in Ibaraki Prefecture within Japan's Kanto region. This comprehensive municipal facility serves as both a natural retreat and recreational hub in the heart of Tsukuba Science City, an area renowned for its research institutes and technological innovation.

The park centers around a large pond surrounded by excellent walking paths, creating a peaceful environment that attracts both locals and visitors year-round. The grounds feature a variety of plants including cherry blossoms, zelkova, evergreen oaks, and ginkgo trees, providing seasonal beauty with cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant greenery in summer, colorful leaves in autumn, and serene landscapes in winter.

Visitors can engage in numerous activities across the park's diverse facilities. The recreational offerings include a heated indoor swimming pool that uses solar heat, tennis courts, and an arena building. The arena features two basketball courts, three volleyball courts, ten table tennis courts, six badminton courts, and seating for 400 spectators. Families will appreciate the large children's playground with climbing frame equipment and obstacle race area. The park also includes a soccer field and stretches of green grass perfect for picnicking.

Tsukuba has excellent walking and biking paths that connect most of the institutes and the university, with Doho Park accessible by one of these paths. The park is bicycle-friendly, making it easily integrated into cycling routes throughout the city. The park is located just a short distance from Tsukuba center, ensuring convenient access for day trips or extended visits.

Two car parks serve the facility - one opposite the Seven-Eleven on Doho Park Avenue and another accessible by traffic lights. The park is accessible via Tsukuba's comprehensive public transportation network, with Tsukuba Station serving as the main transit hub. The park's address is Ninomiya 2-20, Tsukuba-shi, Ibaraki Prefecture. Entry to the park grounds is free, though individual facilities like the swimming pool may charge separate admission fees.
