小牧・長久手の戦いでは、家康側についた城主の丹羽氏が、方面から岡崎を目指した羽柴方の行軍を阻止ししようし、３００名で7000人と戦い落城。しかしこの時間稼ぎで、家康本隊が追い付き、その後の戦闘に影響を与えた城です。天守閣は模擬天守ですが、城感増しなかなか見応えが有ります。本物の遺構も、結構残っていますが、そのそも本丸周辺はあまり大きな城では無かったので、比較的短時間で、見て回れます。無料の駐車場が有り、模擬天守の展望塔と歴史資料館も無料で入れます。

岩崎城は、駐車場方面から行くと、空堀にも降りる事ができる遊歩道があったり、二の丸馬出には水琴窟があったり、土塁の跡や井戸跡なども見る事が出来ます。そして、反対側からは、岩崎城と書かれた大きな石碑をバックに、階段を少し登った所に門と天守がそびえるかっこいい作りとなっています。門をくぐると、漏れなく四方八方からやられ放題となる枡形も備えており、小ぢんまりとしていますが、楽しむ要素満載のいいお城でした😊 歴史的には、岩崎城歴史記念館の資料によりますと、羽柴秀吉(のちの豊臣秀吉)と織田信雄・徳川家康連合軍が戦った「小牧・長久手の戦い」において、16歳の城代丹羽氏重が奮戦した「岩崎城の戦い」のおかげで、戦(いくさ)において徳川方勝利のきっかけを作った城とも言われています。(政治的には信雄が秀吉に丸め込まれたので、どっちが勝利という事は難しいですが…) そんな岩崎城や、その周辺の歴史を、岩崎城歴史記念館および岩崎城内で学ぶ事が出来ます。他の場所ならそれぞれ500円ずつくらいは入場料がかかりそうですが、なんと無料です😳 しかも、御城印も他のお城なら300円以上するところ、岩崎城の場合は200円でした。なんて良心的なお城なんだ！
