What other travelers are saying about Usubae Sakura Park
Went here with friends. Very nice atmosphere, and the food is delicious— those that aren't used to raw seafood or umami flavour may not like it at first, but the flavours are authentic, genuine and tasty. The staff are also very kind. The interior appearance is beautiful and eating here was awesome.
The optimal visiting period is from late March through mid-April when the park's 200 cherry blossom trees of five different varieties bloom in succession. The staggered blooming periods of the different sakura types extend the viewing season, with peak conditions typically occurring in early April depending on weather conditions.
Take the Kochi Southwest Bus on the westbound route to Cape Ashizuri via Nakahama and Ohama, and disembark at the "Usubae" bus stop. From there, it's approximately 2 kilometers to the Usubae Parking Lot. Note that the eastbound bus route via Kubotsu does not serve this stop, so plan your journey accordingly.
No, Usubae Sakura Park offers free admission to all visitors. There are no charges for entering the park or viewing the cherry blossoms, making it an accessible destination for budget-conscious travelers.
Usubae Sakura Park is unique because it combines traditional hanami experiences with panoramic Pacific Ocean views from its elevated position at 120 meters altitude. Located on the Ashizuri Peninsula at Shikoku's southernmost tip, it offers dramatic coastal scenery alongside cherry blossom viewing, which is uncommon among most inland sakura destinations.
Car rental provides the most convenient access, especially for exploring the broader Tosashimizu Geopark area. E-bike rentals are available from hotels near Cape Ashizuri for a more eco-friendly option. Public bus access is limited and requires careful planning, as service only operates on specific routes with a 2-kilometer walk from the nearest bus stop.
