Usubae Sakura Park

Usubae Sakura Park sits at an altitude of approximately 120 meters in the southern part of Cape Ashizuri Peninsula in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture. This elevated cherry blossom destination forms part of the broader Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park system, positioned at Shikoku's southernmost tip where the Pacific Ocean meets dramatic coastal landscapes.

The park serves as a seasonal highlight within the Ashizuri Peninsula's network of natural attractions. Approximately 200 cherry blossom trees of five different types create spectacular displays from late March through mid-April, when the various sakura varieties bloom in succession across the hillside terrain. The elevated location provides visitors with panoramic ocean views that complement the cherry blossom experience, making it a distinctive hanami destination that combines mountain and coastal scenery.

Visitors experience both intimate cherry blossom viewing and expansive Pacific vistas from the park's elevated vantage point. Transportation access to Usubae Sakura Park is rather limited, requiring advance planning for visitors. The park is accessible via Kochi Southwest Bus, with visitors disembarking at the "Usubae" stop, followed by approximately 2 kilometers to the Usubae Parking Lot. Bus access is only available on the westbound route to Cape Ashizuri via Nakahama and Ohama, as the eastbound route via Kubotsu does not serve this stop. Car rental provides the most convenient access method for exploring the broader Tosashimizu Geopark area, with e-bike rentals available from hotels near Cape Ashizuri. The park offers free admission to visitors.
