Detached Palace Garden

4.1 (173)Historical LandmarkHistorical PlacePoint Of InterestEstablishment

Detached Palace Garden is a slice of heaven where history, nature, and jaw-dropping views collide in the most beautiful way. Picture this: a garden once reserved for Japan’s imperial family is now open for everyone to explore. Perched high above Lake Ashi, it offers panoramic views that will leave you breathless, especially when Mount Fuji decides to make an appearance on a clear day.

The garden’s design is pure genius. Every path, every tree, every stone seems perfectly placed to create moments of awe. As you stroll through, you’ll find traditional tea houses tucked away, inviting you to pause and soak in the tranquility. The old palace building still stands, a regal reminder of the garden’s royal past, with its elegant architecture blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Seasons transform this garden into a living painting. Spring brings waves of pink cherry blossoms, turning the landscape into a dreamscape. In autumn, the trees explode in red and gold, making everything look like it’s on fire. Even in winter, when snow blankets the garden, there’s a serene, almost otherworldly beauty that’s hard to describe.

What other travelers are saying about Detached Palace Garden

Great view of mt. Fuji if you're lucky enough to go on a clear day. Very small park that's easy to walk around in.

The walk in nature in the park is very relaxing with interesting spots, and there is where I've seen the dirtiest non free toilets in the whole Japan (and you can trust me, I've lived and traveled many times in japan over the years)

Not too much to do but it's a nice place. You can learn a bit of history for free and get a cup of tea for a free hundred yen.
