What other travelers are saying about Goichi Wine Shiojiri
You can taste some wine for 500 yen, they will give you a small cup, you can go to the server and push it once to fill your cup up to 20ml. All wine are good and ended up getting one bottle to drink at our hotel. We will certainly come back!! 20241222
I visited during a holiday in September.
It's a 25-minute walk from Shiojiri Station, so I recommend taking a taxi or car.
Since morning, there was a constant stream of buses and cars carrying people touring the winery, as well as families traveling by car.
Right in front of the visitor parking lot is a shop and tasting area, and the store carries wines that can only be purchased here.
They carry a wide variety of grapes of different qualities, including Chardonnay, Concord, Niagara, Sauvignon Blanc, Kerner, Koshu, Longan, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Syrah.
The noble rot wines were sold out on the day I visited.
For those who don't like wine, they also have a variety of grape juices, allowing you to enjoy the different rich flavors of the grapes.
One of the joys of visiting a winery is buying your favorite after tasting.
As you would expect from a winery with over 100 years of history, this will be an irresistible experience for wine lovers.
We went in August 🚗 ³₃ We sampled the wines and found our favorites 🍷 and were very satisfied. We bought two bottles of white wine and 1.8 liters of red wine (*^^*)
My wife was especially pleased with the white wine, saying it was excellent, and has added it to our list of places to visit again 👏
It was great that you could try multiple wines for 500 yen. However, the area is small, so it's fine to drink outside in the spring and fall, but it might be a bit difficult to get in with a large group in the summer and winter. (The tasting area is packed with four people.)
It is one of Japan's leading wineries. It is the first winery in Japan to successfully cultivate Merlot and to have established the term "Shiojiri wine = Merlot". There are several grades and brand names. This time I purchased the Estate Merlot Higashikakine Field 2022. It has astringency but is quite refreshing and easy to drink. It goes well with fish. Although they produce just under 2,000 bottles, the price was reasonable at around 3,000 yen. They were also considerate enough to say, "It's hot today, so it's better to chill it a little in the refrigerator before drinking it." You can also tour the farm. It was late June, so of course there were no berries. The vineyards are quite large and they produce many brands.
Yes, the winery offers a relaxed tasting experience with ten different wines available for sampling from three glass refrigerators. Visitors can try as many varieties as they like without any pressure to purchase. The selection ranges from daily drinking wines to premium bottles, including their signature Merlot, Chardonnay, and local Ryugan varieties. Non-alcoholic grape juice is also available for tasting.
Winery tours are available upon request but must be arranged in advance. Contact the winery directly at +81-263-52-0059 to schedule a tour. The tours provide insight into the production process, vineyard operations, and the history of Japan's oldest winery. The wine shop operates independently from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and requires no advance booking for visits and tastings.
