They had delicious Fukushima apples, slightly tart and quite sweet. It's only bought locally because I've never seen them elsewhere in Japan. A bag of 5 for 550yen. Perfect for apple pie.
They sold tsukudani grasshoppers... I was curious but didn't buy any.
From this road stop, you can hike up (5 to 10 minutes) a small trail to the train sightseeing point. You can see the cute Tadami train. In just 2 weeks, the view must be perfect!!!!
Michi-no-Eki Oze Kaido Mishima-juku is an excellent rest stop offering local crafts, delicious regional foods, and breathtaking river views. It’s also famous among photographers—the nearby viewpoint is one of the best spots to capture the iconic JR Tadami Line crossing the picturesque Daiichi Tadami River Bridge, with beautiful seasonal landscapes throughout the year. Perfect for train and nature lovers.
Quiet a unique rest stop as there is no petrol and the building the nicely designed, most people would stop here for not for the drive but to check out the train bridge crossing as it is one of the most iconic scenes in Japan to take photos in any seasons. We were fortunate to see the train pass the bridge on this visit and there’s roughly one train crossing per hour each day from 8am to 5pm.
An excellent place to enjoy the fall foliage of Tadami River Gorge in early Nov! Follow the signs and walk up to viewpoints B, C and D. The views of the first bridge are gorgeous. You can see the second bridge at viewpoint D. Note the time schedule of the trains and you may catch the beautiful photos of the train crossing the first bridge with the color leaves. 1106
If you want to see the tadami bridge, then you have to come here. You can take a short hike for about 5 minutes to go to the spot for viewing location. The parking is very big and gets busy on weekends. They have lots of Omiage and and restaurant as well. There are outside food stole as well.
The No.1 Tadami River Bridge viewpoint is easily accessible with a 10-minute walk from Road Station Ozekaido Mishimajuku. Exit the station and head toward the tunnel, then take the marked footpath on the left-hand side before reaching the tunnel. There are actually three different viewpoints available, with the highest one taking about 10 minutes to climb. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the path involves some uphill walking.
Take the JR Tadami Line from Aizu-Wakamatsu Station to Aizu-Miyashita Station, which takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes and costs ¥860 one-way. From Aizu-Miyashita Station, a commuter bus departs at 8:10 AM Monday through Saturday and arrives at the roadside station about 5 minutes later. Important note: The commuter bus does not operate on Sundays or Japanese national holidays. Return buses from the station depart at 10:20 AM and 1:20 PM but require advance reservations made inside the roadside station.

The restaurant serves oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl) made with local Aizu jidori chicken, along with other snacks and light meals featuring regional ingredients.
Trains cross the bridge at scheduled times throughout the day, with morning trains typically passing around 8:59 AM (traveling right to left) and 9:18 AM (traveling left to right). The bridge offers different photographic opportunities depending on the season: summer mornings feature fog over the Tadami River (June to August), autumn provides vibrant foliage reflections, and winter creates snow-covered mountain backdrops. Road Station Ozekaido Mishimajuku opens daily at 8:00 AM. The station provides free parking and serves as the designated parking area for visitors to the Tadami River Bridge viewpoint. If arriving by car, the station is approximately 20 minutes from Aizubange Interchange via the Banetsu Expressway. The facility includes standard roadside station amenities such as restrooms, tourist information, and vending machines.
