What other travelers are saying about Saltybe Sea Salt Making Workshop
We booked in advance and really enjoyed a tour. We learned a lot and enjoyed the activities. Maru’s English was good enough for us understand and ask questions. What a tasty product! We recommend, thank you!
I would definitely recommend this salt!
We use sun-dried salt in our home, but I especially love this salt!!!
I particularly like the coarse salt, but I also like being able to use different grains. I will continue to enjoy delicious salt, striving to provide meals that will keep my family healthy for many years to come. I would like to experience how the salt is made there someday.
What an amazing facility!!!
I was very impressed with Tosa's Shiomaru (Blue Maru). I've tried many different types of salt, but personally, none of them have been as good for me.
I would also like to try the first generation Tosa Shiomaru and Tosa Shiomaru (White Maru).
They are making sun-dried salt.
Making sun-dried salt is difficult in humid Japan, so few places actually do it.
They explained the process of making salt and also explained the various steps that go into actually making the salt, which made it easy to understand.
We also had a salt beauty treatment (we tried washing our hands and brushing our teeth using nigari), removed salt waste, and made souvenirs.
The lids on the souvenirs are not particularly strong, so you need to be careful not to remove them.
I use it all the time in my cooking, so I was shown around the workshop! Their meticulous process and passion for salt are genuine! It's so hot inside the greenhouse that it's impossible for an ordinary person like me to stay there. In the summer, it can exceed 60 degrees Celsius.
