Traveler reviews
Tore Tore Ichiba is a lively seafood market known for its wide variety of fresh fish, sashimi, and local Wakayama products. The market is spacious, clean, and easy to explore, making it very tourist‑friendly. You can enjoy fresh seafood bowls, watch tuna cutting shows, or shop for local snacks and souvenirs. A fun and convenient stop for anyone visiting Shirahama and wanting to experience Wakayama’s seafood culture.
Such a lovely place. We stayed in Shirohama for 2 nights so we had a leisure hang out in the ToreTore during day time. It’s quite energetic, many visitors there, for food, for souvenir, or some local people go for the market. The fishes were so nice and big. People can get a bowl of rice and just pick those sashimi or pickles or deep fried food as long as they want. There are plenty of seats. We should have had lunch there if we knew beforehand.
The fish market sells a variety of seafood and you can barbecue them at a nearby shop.
You can buy the individual seafood from all the different stalls located inside the market and cook them at the nearby shop.
The barbecue time is limited to 1 hour and 45 mins with unlimited non-alcoholic drinks. Adults cost 1,000 yen each, school children 700 yen, infants (3 years old) 300 yen.
There is also sashimi too which you can purchase. Outside the market is a fruits shop.
There could be other market events too and we saw a flea market on the day we were there.
Touristy, yes. But overall a decent fish market where you can get decent sashimi at a good price. The place can get pretty crowded with long queues at the foodhall. It’s a good balance between the raw local fish market and the overpriced tourist traps.
Wonderful for cheap fresh seafood (otoro) and cooked food too! Huge place and full of choices for Japanese snacks too! One can spend hours here!
