Heidee Winery Koshu

Founded in 2012, on a lush green hilltop in a valley embracing the vast ocean, Heidee Winery produces different types of Japanese wine including red, white, and rose from six grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Albarino. The winery represents a unique approach to Japanese viticulture, positioning itself strategically on the scenic Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture where vineyards overlook the Sea of Japan.

Heidee Winery prides itself on using homemade Japanese grapes from the local areas. These grapes grow overlooking the Sea of Japan, with the specialty varieties being the Aojo series and the Senri series. The winery's location on the Noto Peninsula provides a distinctive maritime influence that sets it apart from Japan's more famous inland wine regions. The largest peninsula on the northern Honshu coast, it extends northward for 50 miles (80 km) and has a width of about 19 miles (30 km). This unique terroir benefits from ocean breezes and coastal conditions that influence grape cultivation.

Visitors to Heidee Winery can experience wine tastings featuring the signature Aojo series and Senri series wines, which are specifically crafted to complement fresh seafood from the surrounding waters. The facility offers direct views of the Sea of Japan from its hillside location, providing a scenic backdrop for wine appreciation. The winery's tasting room allows guests to sample the full range of varietals while learning about the unique coastal wine-making process that distinguishes Noto Peninsula wines from traditional Japanese wine regions.

The winery is located at 31-21-1, Sendai Monzen-machi, Wajima-shi, Ishikawa Prefecture. Visitors traveling from Tokyo can fly to Noto Satoyama Airport with a 90-minute flight from Haneda Airport, followed by a 30-minute drive to the winery. Alternatively, those arriving by rail can take a 2-hour drive from JR Kanazawa Station. The winery provides complimentary wine tastings and direct sales of their coastal-influenced wines.
