Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden stands as the symbol of Nakafurano Town in Hokkaido, transforming between seasons as both a flower-filled hillside park and a winter ski resort. The municipal lavender field occupies the slopes of Mount Hokuseiyama, creating a seasonal spectacle from mid-July to early August when the ski slopes are covered in blooming lavender. The garden represents Nakafurano's identity as a lavender destination within the broader Furano region, which has become synonymous with Hokkaido's flower tourism.

The garden showcases four distinct varieties of lavender alongside sunflowers and salvia, with a rare white lavender blooming near the summit. The hillside location provides sweeping views of the Tokachidake mountain range, with the agricultural landscape of Furano Basin spreading below. The garden blooms with colorful flowers from summer and hosts the Nakafurano Lavender Festival, the town's largest annual event, in mid-July.

Visitors can ride a single-chair lift to the summit, a journey taking five and a half minutes that offers the sensation of floating above a carpet of flowers. Entry to the lavender fields is free of charge, making it accessible for budget-conscious travelers. The chair lift provides an efficient way to access the hilltop views, and walking trails are available for those who prefer to explore on foot. The site remains open year-round with free access to the Hokusei Mountain Observatory.
