今归仁城迹位于冲绳本岛北部，是琉球王国丰富历史与文化遗产的深刻象征。这座令人叹叹的遗迹被列为联合国教科文组织世界遗产，可追溯至14世纪，被视为冲绳最重要的历史遗址之一。

这座城堡曾是一座强大的要塞，也是北山王国统治者的居所。北山王国是琉球群岛统一前为争夺主导权而竞争的三个王国之一。如今留存下来的，是在郁郁葱葱的景观中蜿蜒交错的巨大石墙和拱门，展现了琉球人民精湛的砌石技艺。
