This 14-day mid-winter journey through Japan offers a rich blend of modern city life, ancient culture, scenic day trips, and seasonal atmosphere. The trip begins with four days in Tokyo, exploring the city’s exciting contrasts: the energy of Shibuya and Harajuku, the traditional streets and temples of Asakusa, panoramic views from Tokyo Skytree, and the calm surroundings of the Imperial Palace. From Tokyo, the itinerary continues to Kyoto for four days of temples, shrines, gardens, Arashiyama, and a traditional tea ceremony, followed by a day trip to Osaka to experience its castle, retro charm in Shinsekai, and lively food culture. The journey then moves west to Hiroshima, travelling via Himeji Castle and Korakuen Garden in Okayama. In Hiroshima we will visit Peace Memorial Park and the sacred island of Miyajima. The trip concludes with a return to Tokyo for a final full day to relax on your own or join a day trip to coastal Kamakura. In December, Japan’s crisp winter air, seasonal illuminations, hot meals, and quieter temple settings add a memorable atmosphere to this well-balanced cultural adventure.
