新宿御苑前駅から徒歩4-5分で着く都会のオアシス・新宿御苑。
総面積は約58.3ヘクタール、外周は3.5kmに及び、フランス式整形庭園、イギリス風景式庭園、日本庭園が調和した空間で、四季折々の美しい景観を楽しめます。
🌸 入場とアクセス
入場料は一般500円、学生・65歳以上は250円。交通系ICでも支払い可能です。入口は3箇所あり、初めて行く方は待ち合わせ時に注意が必要です。
大木戸門：地下鉄新宿御苑前駅からすぐ
新宿門：地下鉄新宿三丁目駅に近い
千駄ヶ谷門：JR千駄ヶ谷駅に近い
私は最初知らずに友人との待ち合わせ場所がズレてしまったので、皆さんもお気をつけください。
🚶 散策と施設
公園内は約3.5kmの散策コースがあり、1周するのに約3時間。良い運動になり、一周すると充実感も大きいです。
園内にはベンチが多く、水分休憩をしながらゆっくり過ごすのがおすすめです。

新宿御苑は都会の中心にありながら、自然・歴史・文化を一度に感じられる貴重な場所です。外国人観光客も多く、デートや撮影、1人でのリフレッシュにも最適。次回は季節を変えて、違う表情を楽しみに訪れたいと思います。

🚶 Shinjuku Gyoen
Just a 4–5 minute walk from Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, Shinjuku Gyoen is truly an oasis in the heart of the city.
Covering approximately 58.3 hectares, with a 3.5 km outer path, the park combines French formal gardens, English landscape gardens, and Japanese gardens, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery throughout the year.
🌸 Entrance & Access
Admission is 500 yen for adults, 250 yen for students and seniors (65+). You can also use transportation IC cards for entry. There are three gates, so be careful when arranging to meet friends for the first time:
Okido Gate: Closest to Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station
Shinjuku Gate: Closest to Shinjuku-sanchome Station
Sendagaya Gate: Closest to JR Sendagaya Station
I didn’t know this at first, so my meeting spot with friends was off. Please take note to avoid the same mistake.
🚶 Walking & Facilities
The park features a 3.5 km walking course, which takes about three hours to complete. It’s a great workout, and the sense of accomplishment after one full loop is wonderful. Benches are scattered throughout, so I recommend resting and hydrating as you go.

With both paid cafés and free rest areas available, it’s easy to pace yourself even in the hot season or during long walks.
🌍 Summary
Shinjuku Gyoen is a rare place where you can experience nature, history, and culture all at once, right in central Tokyo. It’s popular with international tourists, but also ideal for dates, photo shoots, or solo relaxation. I’m looking forward to visiting again in a different season to enjoy its ever-changing beauty.
