House that used to belong to the founder of the Matsuzakaya department store company. It was originally part of a larger set of grounds, but this house and a garden still remains. The house costs 300 yen to get in, but you can get a discount if you have a Nagoya Subway one day pass, at least on certain days. You can't quite go around every room in the house, and the insides are fairly bare, but it certainly is a good example of early 20th century Western influenced architecture and has some unusual things including the theatre stage in the basement. It won't take very long to get around and makes a good mini trip with the garden and Nittai-ji.
