Brazilian Park Washuzan Highland

Washuzan Highland is an amusement park located in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The park opened in 1971 and sits atop Mount Washu at an elevation of approximately 133 meters, offering panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea and the Great Seto Bridge, one of Japan's most impressive engineering landmarks connecting Honshu and Shikoku islands.

The park's most distinctive feature is its Brazilian-themed design and atmosphere, which was inspired by the cultural exchange between Japan and Brazil and the significant Japanese-Brazilian community. This unique theme makes it stand out among Japanese amusement parks, incorporating tropical aesthetics and Latin American musical elements throughout the grounds. The location itself holds historical significance as Mount Washu has been recognized as a scenic spot since ancient times and is part of the Setonaikai National Park.

Visitors come primarily for the sky cycle, a pedal-powered rail ride that circles the mountain peak at heights reaching up to 15 meters above ground, providing thrilling aerial views of the surrounding seascape and islands. The park features approximately 16 attractions including a Ferris wheel, roller coasters, and family-friendly rides suitable for various age groups. The observation deck at the summit offers unobstructed views of the bridge and archipelago, making it particularly popular during sunset hours.

The park is accessible by car via the Seto-Chuo Expressway, exiting at Washuzan IC, with the park located approximately 5 minutes from the exit. Free parking accommodates around 1,000 vehicles. Public transportation users can take the JR Seto-Ohashi Line to Kojima Station, then board a Shimotsui Loop Bus bound for Washuzan, alighting at the Washuzan Highland stop after roughly 20 minutes. Standard admission costs ¥3,800 for adults (ages 13 and above) and ¥3,200 for children (ages 3-12), which includes unlimited rides on most attractions. The park also offers a discounted entry-only ticket at ¥800 for those who wish to enjoy the views and atmosphere without riding attractions.
