Keisei Rose Garden

The Keisei Rose Garden stands as one of Japan's premier rose destinations, located in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture. Established in 1959 by Keisei Rose Nurseries with the hopes of cultivating the rose growing culture in Japan and developing world-class rose varieties, the garden has played a pivotal role in nurturing Japan's appreciation for roses and continues to serve as both a research facility and public attraction.

The garden spans over 30,000 square meters (7.4 acres) and accommodates 10,000 roses of 1,600 varieties, making it an extraordinary collection that would be impossible to replicate in central Tokyo. The complex features French architectural styling, combining both traditional and modern elements throughout its landscaped grounds. The garden serves as a living showcase of rose cultivation expertise, displaying everything from classic European varieties to innovative Japanese hybrids developed on-site.

Visitors experience the garden's peak beauty during spring and early summer blooming seasons, when the extensive rose collection creates a tapestry of colors and fragrances across the sprawling grounds. The garden includes specialized rose breeding areas, themed garden sections, and educational displays that demonstrate various cultivation techniques. Additional facilities include a restaurant, café, and bakery where guests can enjoy refreshments while surrounded by the garden's aromatic blooms. The complex also features a gift shop specializing in rose-related products and garden supplies.

The garden is accessible by a 15-minute walk from Yachiyo-Midorigaoka Station on the Toyo Rapid Railway, or by bus from Yachiyodai Station on the Keisei Line. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes, with services bound for Yachiyo Iryo Center. By car, the location is approximately one hour from central Tokyo. Admission costs ¥1,800 for adults, ¥500 for elementary and junior high school students, and ¥1,500 for visitors with disabilities. The garden operates with seasonal hours, typically opening from 9:00 to 18:00 during peak season.
