사사야마성 다이쇼인

Sasayama Castle Daishoin is a historical building within Sasayama Castle in Tanba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Sasayama Castle was constructed in 1609 under Tokugawa Ieyasu's orders as strategic fortification. The castle was built in six months through tenshu-maru construction using multiple daimyo. Daishoin was a residential building during the Edo period, housing members of the Aoyama clan and later Matsudaira clan governing Sasayama domain. Original structures were largely destroyed during the Meiji Restoration, but preservation restored buildings including Daishoin.

Daishoin represents Edo-period samurai residential architecture within a castle complex, demonstrating traditional elements including tatami-mat rooms, sliding doors, wooden construction, and spatial arrangements reflecting social hierarchy. The structure shows how castle inhabitants lived and conducted administrative duties.
