Shibukawa Zoological Park, Tamano

Shibukawa Zoological Park is located in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, along the coast of the Seto Inland Sea. Established in 1953 as a municipal zoo, the facility has expanded to cover approximately 6 hectares, housing around 70 species and roughly 300 individual animals. The park focuses on interactive experiences and educational programming rather than extensive collections.

The park emphasizes close-contact animal encounters and serves as an educational resource for families and schools in Okayama Prefecture. The park is accessible from JR Okayama Station via the JR Uno Line to Shibukawa Station, followed by a 15-minute walk or taxi to the entrance. Total travel time is approximately 45 minutes. By car, take the Seto-Chuo Expressway to Tamano IC. The park is 3 kilometers from central Tamano and 25 kilometers from Okayama city. Admission is approximately ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for children aged 3-15. Additional fees apply for certain interactive experiences and amusement rides.
