Tennogawa Park

Tennogawa Park is laid out around Maruike, an elliptical pond that is a remnant of the Tenno River, a tributary of the Saya River. This river once flowed through the center of Tsushima City but became a cove during the Edo period as a result of accumulating earth and sand, eventually forming what is now known as Maruike Pond. The park was subsequently designed to surround this historical waterway, creating a unique landscape that connects visitors to the region's past.

The seasonal changes of Tennogawa Park are particularly striking. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom throughout the park, creating a natural spectacle. Around Golden Week (the end of April to early May), the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival is held, and numerous wisteria trellises hang over the water, creating a whimsical, dreamlike atmosphere. From the beginning of summer, water lilies bloom in the area around the bridge in Nakanoshima, adorning the park with delicate white petals.

Visitors to Tennogawa Park can enjoy peaceful walks along the green tree-lined avenues surrounding the pond, making the park an ideal destination for relaxation and photography. The natural beauty transforms throughout the seasons, offering different experiences depending on when you visit. The best times to visit are spring for cherry blossoms, late April through early May for the wisteria festival, and early summer for water lilies.
