What other travelers are saying about Japan Mint Head Office
Visited this place during sakura season april 2025, recommended to do online reservation before going. However due to heavy rain, many sakura already drops.
Went there for the Cherry Blossom Viewing. It's a cloudy day but the flowers were still beautiful. We went on the first day and it's already super crowded. The walk is about 20-30 minutes. Be careful if you go with a large group since it's really easy to be separated. You can't use selfie stick in the viewing event.
If you have an interest in history, design, engineering or of course, coins, it's a very nice stop in for an hour or so. And it's free!
Bonus if you visit during sakura season. The grounds are covered in cherry trees.
The annual cherry blossom viewing event occurs in mid-April for approximately one week when the 340 cherry trees bloom. The museum is open year-round on weekdays. Specific cherry blossom dates change annually based on bloom conditions and are announced on the official Japan Mint website.
No. Public access is restricted to the museum and the cherry blossom pathway during the seasonal event. The active minting facilities are not open to visitors due to security and operational requirements.
The museum visit takes 30 to 45 minutes. Walking the 560-meter cherry blossom pathway takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on crowds. A combined visit requires approximately two hours.
Photography is permitted in the outdoor cherry blossom areas. Inside the museum, restrictions may apply to certain exhibits, and flash photography is typically prohibited. Check posted signs or ask staff for specific policies.
