What other travelers are saying about Kinosaki Marine World
Underrated sea aquarium. Even though small, it provides much better experience for visitors to interact with sea creatures. Visitors can feed the fishes, touch the starfish, sea slug.
It also has giant salamanders which is not available in other countries.
Penguins, seals, walrus were just a glass panel away. There is also a dolphin chamber where dolphins swim right in front of you (no glass panel).
What the kids like most is the fishing where you can pay for 700yen for a fishing rod and some baits to fish. Fishes caught can be tempura fried at a restaurant next to it, and they were delicious.
First fishing experience for the family, very memorable.
As it is just right beside the ocean, waves were big when we visited. You can also watch the waves hitting against the rocks making big splashes. The waves can also sometimes rock the water where visitors do their fishing so it was really exciting.
The facility operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM during standard periods. Summer months (July and August) extend hours to 6:00 PM on weekends and holidays. Winter hours may be reduced. The aquarium is open year-round with occasional maintenance closures in winter. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.
The Fishing Pool allows visitors to catch fish that can be prepared at the restaurant. The Touch Pool permits contact with rays, small sharks, and other species under supervision. Seasonal penguin feeding and walking experiences are available. Selected visitors can participate in dolphin and sea lion shows.
Strollers are permitted and available for rent at the entrance. Touch pools are positioned at accessible heights for children. Baby changing facilities and nursing rooms are provided. Outdoor play areas are available between exhibits.
A complete visit takes 2.5 to 3 hours, including exhibits, one show (approximately 20 to 30 minutes), and interactive zones. Attending multiple shows or special experiences extends this to 3 to 4 hours. The fishing pool adds approximately one hour.
A main restaurant serves Japanese and Western meals featuring local seafood, including fish from the on-site fishing pool. A cafeteria offers noodles, rice dishes, and children's meals. Snack stands sell refreshments throughout the complex. Outside food is generally not permitted except baby food and special dietary requirements.
A very well kept marine animals! Our family loved the Walrus show, dancing dolphin and seal show and fish feeding section. We also love catching your own fish section where they will make tempura out of your catch! It was really lunch treat! Friendly staff that really cares for the animals they look after! 10/10 family fun day!
This aquarium has many unique sea creatures and exciting shows, especially the dolphin and sea lion performances. The location by the sea makes the views beautiful, and it’s fun for both kids and adults. A nice place to spend a few hours when visiting Kinosaki.
Such a fun time. No need to be a child. There are different activities throughout the day but be sure to arrive before 11am so you can see the penguin walk and the main dolphin/sea lion show.
