What other travelers are saying about Ohashi Cherry Farm
Amazing experience! So many different varieties of cherries. I was lucky this year because they still had cherry picking in August~ Paid extra for the Nanyo fields, I highly recommend it. The cherries were the sweetest and best cherries I have ever eaten. Thank you for the experience! 💕
One of the best experiences you can get to being a farmer. The seasons from 2023 start at the end of June. It cost ¥1800 per person to eat all you can with no time limit. And if you decide to bring some back, it's ¥300 per 100g. The general field is open in sections so it is not over picked. The field consists of 3 different types of cherry trees. You can enjoy the cherry trees and eat at the same time.
One of the activities I was most looking forward to on this trip was cherry picking. We double-checked the website before heading out on 2 August 2024, since it was quite a distance.
However, we were deeply disappointed when the staff informed us that the cherry-picking season was over, which was never mentioned on their website. Many other groups of customers like us arrived and were turned away.
Although cherries were available for sale, our excitement was already dampened. The staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly.
Cherry picking has different pricing depending on which sections you want access to, in early August I brought entry to the nanyo cherry area.
If you intend on bringing cherries home, make sure you pluck the cherry with the stem intact as they keep better. I had the strategy of tasting a single cherry from a bunch and only harvested the rest if I found the cherry to my liking.
Quite fun to "cherry pick" cherries without having to worry about insects.
Went on the 3rd week of September and the cheery pickings are already over. But still have the prune, plums, peaches, blue berries for tasting. Cost is 1,100 yen without any ti.e limits. Hava a great time, and will be perfect if the blue berries are tastier and I have the stomach for an apple. Highly recommended!
The cherry picking season runs from mid-June to mid-August, with mid-July considered the optimal time for the widest variety selection. Different cherry varieties ripen in succession throughout the season, allowing visitors to taste all 60 varieties by coming multiple times. The season dates may vary depending on weather conditions and fruit ripeness, so visitors planning to come in mid-August or later should confirm availability by phone beforehand.
For individual visitors with groups of less than 20 people, no reservations are needed for cherry picking or other fruit picking activities. Visitors can simply arrive during operating hours and enjoy the experience. However, larger groups exceeding 20 people should contact the farm in advance to arrange their visit.
Yes. Ohashi Cherry Farm features the largest indoor orchard in Japan covering 11 acres with an all-weather rain dome, ensuring cherry picking can continue regardless of weather. However, note that not all areas are covered with rain shelters, and the farm may not open during heavy rain. It's advisable to check conditions before visiting during inclement weather.
Most visitors recommend allocating 3-4 hours to fully enjoy the cherry picking experience. This allows time to explore different fields, try various cherry varieties, and use the farm's amenities. The all-you-can-eat cherry picking format means there's no time limit, so visitors can pick and eat cherries at their own pace. The farm operates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with last entry at 4:00 PM during cherry season.
The farm is well-equipped for all visitors. Thanks to a unique pruning method, the trees are kept short, making it easy for children to pick cherries by simply reaching out. For elderly guests or those with physical challenges, the farm has prepared a dedicated "Silver Orchard" located near the entrance. Additional amenities include free parking for up to 500 vehicles, barrier-free restrooms, and rental equipment including mats, chairs, and diaper changing stations.
