Oyokogawa Promenade Kawazu Sakura

The Oyokogawa Promenade Kawazu Sakura is located along the Oyoko River in Koto City, Tokyo, adjacent to Kiba Park. This promenade features more than 100 Kawazu-zakura cherry trees planted on both sides of the river, making it the largest Kawazu-zakura viewing spot in Tokyo's 23 wards. The Kawazu-zakura variety blooms significantly earlier than the standard Somei Yoshino cherry trees commonly found throughout Japan. These early cherry blossoms typically bloom from the last week of February through the third week of March, offering visitors the opportunity to experience hanami approximately one month before the peak cherry blossom season. The promenade's riverside setting creates a serene walking path lined with vibrant pink blossoms, and photographers particularly value the location for capturing images of the cherry trees with Tokyo Skytree visible in the background.

Visitors can stroll along the riverside promenade on both banks of the Oyoko River, enjoying views of the dense cherry tree canopy. Evening illumination begins at 6pm, creating a magical atmosphere with Tokyo Skytree in the background. The site remains relatively uncrowded compared to other Tokyo cherry blossom spots, even during weekends, allowing for a peaceful viewing experience.
