浦添城迹位于冲绳本岛中部，是琉球王国尚氏王朝建立前的重要据点。此地曾是中山王国的政治与文化中心，拥有古老的石墙、城门与墓葬遗迹。浦添城与附近的浦添ようどれ（王陵）共同见证了琉球王国早期历史的发展。 在二战时期（冲绳战役，1945年），浦添城迹及周边地区也曾成为重要的战场之一。美军与日军在此激烈交战，城迹与地下壕沟被用作防御工事与避难场所。如今，浦添城迹不仅是考古与历史研究的重要遗址，也是提醒人们战争悲剧与和平珍贵的象征。 The Urasoe Castle Ruins, located in central Okinawa, were a significant stronghold before the establishment of the Ryukyu Kingdom under the Shō dynasty. This site once served as the political and cultural center of the Chūzan Kingdom and features ancient stone walls, gates, and burial sites. Along with the nearby Urasoe Yōdore (royal mausoleum), it represents the early history of the Ryukyu Kingdom. During World War II, particularly in the Battle of Okinawa (1945), the Urasoe Castle area became a fierce battleground. Both Japanese and American forces fought here, and the castle ruins, along with underground shelters, were used for defense and refuge. Today, the Urasoe Castle Ruins stand not only as an important archaeological and historical site but also as a solemn reminder of the tragedies of war and the enduring value of peace.

它离那霸很近，而且免费，但与其他城迹相比，规模较小，维护也略显欠缺（入口台阶上杂草丛生就是明证）。部分城迹在冲绳战役中被毁，仅存少量残存。从游客的角度来看，如果您正在寻找规模更大、维护更完善、氛围更浓厚的城迹，我推荐您前往中久城、座喜见城或胜连城。城迹本身环境清幽，非常适合漫步。参观结束后，请避开前田高原和平纪念碑附近的墓地。那里到停车场的路程很长，而且气氛阴森诡异。

「浦添城」是在琉球的石灰岩丘陵上筑成的大型城堡。于12世纪末由舜天王建立，奠定浦添作为王都的地位。 13–14 世纪它曾是中山王国（后成为琉球王国）的政治与宗教重心，规模一度为全冲绳之最。 1406年尚思绍（Shō Shishō） 将王宫迁至首里城，浦添城转为支城并逐渐荒废。后历经萨摩藩入侵、二战「前田高地（Hacksaw Ridge）」激战而残破。 在1945 年冲绳战役中，浦添城所在高地被日军称「前田高地」，美军艰难攀崖夺取；该战事即电影 《Hacksaw Ridge（钢铁英雄）》 之历史舞台。 1990 年指定为日本国家史迹，并纳入「日本遗产：琉球王国相关遗构」。
