Explore the southern route of the Michinoku Coastal Trail over three days, from Soma to Matsushima. Enjoy coastal hikes, local cuisine, and cultural experiences with guided support throughout the journey.
Meet your guide at 10:00 AM at the "Midori-no-madoguchi" ticket office on the 2nd floor of Sendai Station.
After a short train ride, arrive in Soma and transfer to the Matsukawaura area for a freshly grilled seafood BBQ lunch by the water.
In the afternoon, begin your hike from the trailhead near Matsukawaura, making your way to the historic Soma Shrine. This route combines coastal nature with cultural landmarks.
After the walk, check in at your accommodation in either the Matsukawaura or Watari area. Enjoy a traditional Japanese set dinner at the hotel.
Start your day with a Japanese-style breakfast at the hotel, then transfer by taxi to Soma Station. From there, ride the train to Mitazono Station.
Upon arrival, you'll receive a short orientation at the Rail Center before starting today’s hike from the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail Natori Trail Center to the preserved Arahama Elementary School, a symbol of the 2011 tsunami recovery.
Stop for lunch at the modern riverside Kawamachi Terrace along the way. The day ends in the Matsushima area, where you’ll check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing dinner (set or buffet-style).
After breakfast, set off for a scenic hike around the Urato Islands, a peaceful island chain off the coast of Matsushima Bay known for its quiet fishing villages and sea views.
You’ll enjoy a bento-style lunch along the trail as you explore this less-traveled, serene area.
The tour concludes here.
