"Noisy & Wriggly Kids" - 5 nights / 6 days in Tokyo

Visit Bricolage Bread & Co for snacks. If kids can't sit still you can get takeout and take treats back to the playground (keep your plastic bag so you have somewhere to put your rubbish and can take it back to the hotel with you.)

If you need somewhere to eat a meal somewhere kids don't need to sit still and can play a bit while they wait for food - go to Shake Shack in Roppongi. It has a small terrace right out the front with a patch of green ( it shares the space with egg and pancake restaurant Eggs'n'Things so you could also get food from there too.) The Shake Shake stores all have high chairs. *Side note: Shake Shack in Japan is a fab idea for those who are gluten free as you can order a burger in a lettuce wrap. You can also ask for a triple patty with sauce, no bun, bacon, avocado and cheese.    Just a warning incase you are very gluten sensitive - fries might not be a good idea as they reuse the oil between products.

Another dinner suggestion: Bubby's. American restaurant with zero pressure for kids to sit quietly - there is also a terrace, walk-way area out front where kids can play while waiting for food. Bring some stickers or puzzles for the table too - or ipads if you like - but don't forget headphones.

Another dinner suggestion: Get takeout falafels at Falafel Bros. Eat it in the hotel or take it to the Robot Park to sit and eat (keep your plastic bag in order to take your rubbish home with you.)

Want a light breakfast? Visit the Starbucks at Roppongi Tsutaya Books. You can sit indoors, on the terrace or get takeaway and go back to the Robot Playground from yesterday (2-3 mins walk away) It is open from 7am. From 9am you can also enter the bookshop. There is a beautiful children's book section here. There is a small quiet reading space for children - there are some English books here.

Take a cab for 8 mins to Team Lab Borderless. Tip: have the kids wear white on top for the best photos as the projections will also appear on their shirts, they will be easier to find and also the projections will be seen on their clothing.

Afterwareds visit the world's first bakery for children. Bring cash and kids can head into the bakery (no adults allowed) through a little kid-sized door and choose a treat for themselves. This place is busy on weekends.

Visit Arabica for a coffee hit for the parents

Next, walk to Tokyo Tower. Kids 7 and older can take part in the VR Experience.. Go up to the observation deck. Shop for souvenirs on the 2nd floor. Afterwards, get lunch at the food court - there are high chairs here and zero pressure for kids to sit and eat quietly. Food options include curry, waffles, ice-cream, burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, ramen , pizza, some vegan items.

Stop here for a play if you need a quick play in a playground after lunch.

Walk for 23 mins or take a cab for 7 mins to Roppongi Hills Shopping Complex (this is back in your hotel area) and go to the free play area for kids on the ground floor. I have pictures of the free playarea for kids and babies in this article here. thetokyochapter.com/the-roppongi-area-with-kids

This isn't a garden for play but it is small and a cute photo spot and quick walk through for families. I have pictures of the Mohri garden here. thetokyochapter.com/the-roppongi-area-with-kids Just next to the garden and the free play space is the Lego store and the Bornelund Toy Store.

Head up to the Observation deck at Roppongi Hills. On a clear day, you'll see Tokyo Tower, Skytree AND Mt Fuji from here!

Begin your early shift at Kidzania Tokyo (the indoor amusement park where kids can try different jobs.). I've written in detail about Kidzania and what to expect here. thetokyochapter.com/kidzania-tokyo

Kidzania is actually located inside the Lalaport Shopping Complex. Your Kidzania shift finishes after lunch. If you haven't eaten at the restaurants inside Kidzania, make your way to the Marina Kitchen Food Court on the ground floor. Food options include ramen, tendon (tempura on rice), burgers, fries, nuggets, udon, KFC. There is also a big Daiso 100 yen store inside Lalaport and a playground out the back (near the ground floor Starbucks.)

Alternative late lunch suggestion: This restaurant has salads, kids meals (that come with a toy) that include pancakes with a chocolate pen for decorating.

Alternative idea three: The Poop Museum! This is a small museum but my little boy loves it so much. I've written about it here. thetokyochapter.com/the-unko-poop-museum-odaiba Afterwards, do some shopping inside the complex it's located inside - there is also a good food court on the ground floor and kid-friendly restaurants on the top floor.

Dinner suggestion one: This Seafood & Steak restaurant has vegetarian and gluten free options. Seats 100. Is vibey and family friendly. There is a kids' menu. There is a great view of the Rainbow Bridge at night. If you decide to eat here - don't forget to keep an eye out for the miniature Statue of Liberty!

Dinner suggestion two: They have high chairs. Indoor and outdoor seating. Casual enough that it doesn't matter if kids are a bit noisy. Sit outside or eat an early dinner if they aren't great at sitting still.

Take a taxi from your hotel to Shibuya Crossing. It will take just 12 mins (slightly longer between 7:30-9:30am) Start with the earliest session of the day at Shibuya Sky. Buy tickets ahead of time for adults but buy tickets for kids on the day. Don't forget to take lots of family pictures.

Visit Shibuya Center Street - just 1 min walk from the crossing and check out the 3D panda billboard.

If everyone needs a playground, go here to burn off some steam and get some wriggles out. Keep an eye out for turtles and koi in the pond. This isn't a stunning looking playground or anything but is a great place to relax for 20 mins or so.

Lunch suggestion one: Uobei Sushi Train sushi. For fussy eaters who don't love sushi - the menu also includes fries, noodles, ice-cream and fried chicken. Adults can also order an alcoholic "lemon sour" here. This is a walk-in only restaurant but even if there is a line, it moves quickly. They have high chairs here. Lunch suggestion two: All you can eat Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu. Kid friendly. Also includes all you can eat ice-cream, vegetables, rice and salad. Budget 3000 yen per adult to dine here. This restaurant has a nappy change table. Best to make a reservation if there are more than 2-3 of you. Lunch suggestion three: Shibuya Gyoza. Walk-in only casual gyoza restaurant. Budget approx 1500 yen per adult to dine here. As well as gyoza - they also have fried chicken, fried rice and mapo tofu. You can also ask for an all you can eat gyoza option - starting at 3000 yen per person.

Walk for 15 mins or take a cab for 6 mins to Yoyogi Park. There is not a playground here but it a great place to have a picnic, run around, rent bikes, buy food at the little kiosks or vending machines around the parks, watch the locals practicing their dance routines, people walking their dogs, enjoy the greenery in general. Make sure you have a reservation for the Ninja Experience Cafe ( you will walk through busy Takeshita Street to get here but save the food and shopping for after your Ninja appointment. ). Here you can learn ninja skills and it's really cute for kids - don't eat here though - although they will give you a complimentary soft drink before you start your session. Time to grab a fairy floss the size of your head here! There can be a short line here so decide if you're happy to use the downtime in the line to recoup or whether you'd just like to move on to the next activity. Visit Purikuraland Noa to take print club photo stickers as a family. They cost 500 yen a sheet and kids LOVE these - especially decorating the images on the screens themselves. Dinner suggestion two: "Modern Mexican". Budget around 5000 yen per adult at dinner time and there is a 440 yen service charge per person after 6pm. They have an English menu.

Lunch suggestion four: Afuri Ramen Ramen is served in a clear ramen broth and there is also a vegetarian option. Please watch small kids sitting in front of giant bowls of hot broth. They don't accept cash here.

Walk for 15 mins or take a cab for 4 mins to Arisugawa-no-miya Park. This park is so beautiful. It has a playground at the top and a stunning pond at the bottom (great for spotting koi and turtles). Grab international/ more familiar snacks at international supermarket National Azabu. Lots of vegan and gluten free options here.

Stop here to buy lots of Japanese candy and sweets - including all of the flavoured kit kats etc.

Take a train (Roppongi Itchome Station -> Korakuen Station) for 12 mins or walk or take a cab door to door for 25 mins - approx 5000 yen. This is an INCREDIBLE playcentre - so good that switch Day 6 to whatever day required in order to cover a rainy or super hot day. Go to the food court next door to Bikkuri Donkey for lunch. This is a hamburger steak restaurant with really cute kids meals.

Or have lunch at all you can eat restaurant Sizzler.

Ride the Venus Lagoon Carousel and other rides at Tokyo Dome City. You can also visit Ani Touch Petting Zoo, Rollerskating, Spo-dori Indoor Sports Facility, Bowling.

Take a walk together through this stunning Japanese garden.

Take a taxi for 10 mins to ride the Swan Boats in Ueno (closed Wednesdays.)

Check out this temple for a few minutes (its not very big) and check out the turtles. In the warmer months, make sure you have cash and buy some kakigori (shaved ice.) I have pictures here. thetokyochapter.com/the-ueno-area-with-kids

Head to Loft to shop for bath bombs (the ones with the toys inside) , stationery and souvenirs. In the same building is my favourite brand of 100 yen store called Seria. They have cute toys and stickers there too.
