宇治川の静かな川岸に佇む興聖寺は、自然の美しさと禅の伝統が調和した場所です。1233年に尊敬される道元禅師によって創建されたこの曹洞宗の寺院は、日本で最初のものとして知られています。

その後、1648年に大名・永井尚政の指導の下、現在の風光明媚な宇治の地へ移転されました。興聖寺は、丁寧に剪定された木々や五重塔が配置された静寂な庭園で知られ、瞑想や内省に最適な環境を提供しています。

紅葉の時期になるとよく訪れます。以前は紅葉が綺麗でしたが、今年は木によってバラバラで、全体の見た目はあんまり良くないですね～。
