구니사키 반도

Kunisaki Peninsula extends into the Seto Inland Sea in northeastern Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, formed around Mount Futago (721 meters) with ridges radiating outward in a wheel-like pattern. From the 8th century, the peninsula developed Rokugo Manzan, a syncretic religious culture combining Buddhism, Shinto, and mountain worship. Limited bus services connect major towns like Kunisaki City and Bungotakada, but reach few temple sites. The nearest train station is Usa Station on the JR Nippo Line, approximately 30 minutes from the peninsula's western edge by bus or car.
