What other travelers are saying about Cooking Studio Kanazawa Salon
We greatly enjoyed our cooking lesson! We were able to ask lots of questions in English, which was very appreciated. The meals were excellent with practical instruction we can use at home. We definitely want to take more classes with them!
Incredible experience!! Super recommended. They speak perfect english and are awesome hosts! We loved them :) Not only you learn a lot about japanese cuisine, but also about the history of Kanazawa. And of course, the food was one of the best we had in the whole trip to Japan.

I took this class today with Moe and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my 5 weeks in Japan which has been full of some pretty amazing things. It was just Moe and me so I got a private lesson and it was so much more than that. Not only did I learn the fundamentals of Koji cooking which due to its health benefits and rich history is a growing cooking trend in the west, I got many other lessons on food and other Japanese history as well as one of the best meals I’ve had here. We made an “impossible” sushi roll that I will dream about, koji Dashimaki (the Japanese omelette that you’re always like, “I wonder how they made that?”—NOW I KNOW CAUSE I MADE IT #YAY!!), and duck jibuni. We also had salad and miso soup. And then we made MOCHI and knowing how to make it is both the best and worst because I will make and eat a lot of it :) Moe is a very special person and taking her class was an honor. If you leave Kanazawa without taking her class your visit is incomplete. I could write forever about how wonderful my time with Moe was but I think you get it. If you ever read this, thank you again Moe!!!! ❤️
Cooking Studio Kanazawa Salon is not only a cooking class but it is an amazing journey through the Japanese culture. We enjoyed every tip and every anecdote from Moe and Chikako. Their passion and knowledge towards the use of koji in Japanese food was truly inspiring for us. Highly recommended. A five star experience.

By far one of the best experiences we had on our 6-weeks journey through Japan. Moe and Chikako were just the cutest ladies ever and we learned so much about Koji, the famous fermentation processes used in Japan and how to prepare very local dishes which were so delicious to eat afterwards. We tried Sake, a lovely homemade plum wine and just enjoyed our time so much with these beautiful two ladies. Their knowledge about food, cooking, ingredients but also about the city and history of Kanazawa is stunning. They both are open-hearted and open-minded and we had such interesting conversations which we will always remember. If you are going to Kanazawa we highly recommend doing this cooking class. Thank you for this wonderful experience, can't wait to cook with Koji back home in Austria! Julia & Lukas
