The Izu Teddy Bear Museum opened in 1997 in Ito City on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Created as part of the region's tourism development, the museum houses one of Japan's most extensive collections of teddy bears, featuring over 1,000 bears from different eras and countries. The facility combines exhibits of antique and contemporary bears with immersive themed displays that attract families and collectors alike.

The museum's collection includes rare antique bears dating back to the early 20th century, including valuable Steiff bears from Germany and early American manufacturers. Visitors can view bears that belonged to famous historical figures and limited-edition artist pieces. The museum places these toys within cultural context, showing how teddy bears evolved from luxury items to beloved children's companions across different societies. The exhibits also feature bears dressed in period costumes and arranged in elaborate dioramas depicting scenes from fairy tales and historical periods.

Visitors can reach it by taking the JR Tokaido Line to Atami Station, then transferring to the Ito Line to Ito Station, a journey of roughly 90 minutes from Tokyo. From Ito Station, the museum is accessible by local bus or taxi, about 10 minutes away. By car, the museum is approximately two hours from central Tokyo via the Tomei Expressway and Route 135. General admission costs ¥1,500 for adults and ¥800 for children, with discounts available for groups. The museum coordinates well with visits to nearby hot springs and coastal attractions on the Izu Peninsula.
