What other travelers are saying about Sukiyabashi Jiro
I saw a sign in the Takashimaya that said Sukibayashi Jiro and had to take a look. I had just eaten so I came back the next day at 11am and was seated right away. They had great set options for about 4000-6000 yen but I had to try the omakase at 13,000.
As expected the sushi was great and they give you a choice of any additional piece at the end and I chose the uni. Definitely worth visiting.
Found this “secret” location by accident and went to check it out. While we haven’t had the original location in Ginza, this was still a transformative experience for us.
They have set options for lunch at very reasonable prices, but must get the omakase for the full experience. It was only about $100usd per person and worth every penny.
Every piece was perfect and divine. The best sushi.
It was intimidating at first, as we are from New York and know only a handful of words in Japanese. No English menu but just get omakase, easy enough! No reservations needed, seated easily. Super friendly people once we got settled down. Very approachable way to experience Jiro sushi.
Stopped here for a quick lunch! The sushi is very fresh while the setting is very nice and clean. For a restaurant within a department store, this sushi restaurant does provide very good quality food! We absolutely love it, and most important, the price is very reasonable for lunch
The best sushi and wonderful hospitality. Definitely we have to come back again. Strongly recommend. (Recommend go there early because they only serve the freshest fish daily, they often sell out before closing time)
We were lucky enough to get a table at this renowned establishment, and it didn't fail to impress. Easily the best sushi I've eaten. It was almost worth the trip from Australia on its own.
Sukiyabashi Jiro is renowned for its traditional Edomae sushi, crafted by master sushi chef Jiro Ono. It gained global fame after being featured in the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi and is considered one of the finest sushi restaurants in the world.
Dining at Sukiyabashi Jiro is a premium experience. The price for a full meal starts at around ¥40,000 to ¥50,000 (approximately $270 to $350) per person. Prices may vary depending on the seasonal ingredients.
Due to the traditional nature of the dishes, Sukiyabashi Jiro generally does not accommodate dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian or gluten-free options. The menu focuses on sushi that follows the classic Edomae style, which includes raw fish and seafood.
The dining experience is highly formal and focused on precision. Chef Jiro Ono and his team serve each piece of sushi in a specific sequence, allowing diners to enjoy the subtle flavors of the freshest ingredients. The meal typically lasts around 30 minutes to an hour.
