The hydrangea season from mid-June to early July is most popular, with 20,000 plants in bloom. Cherry blossoms peak in late March to early April from 1,000 trees. Azaleas bloom in late April to May, and autumn foliage appears in November.
Take the Keihan Main Line to Chushojima Station, transfer to the Keihan Uji Line, and exit at Mimuroto Station. Walk uphill for 15 minutes to the temple. Alternatively, take the JR Nara Line to JR Uji Station and catch a bus. Total journey time is 40 to 50 minutes from Kyoto Station.
Regular admission is ¥500 for adults. Prices may increase slightly during peak blooming seasons in June and July. Children receive discounted rates. The fee covers all temple grounds including the main hall, gardens, and five-story pagoda.
The temple has English signage at major locations. Photography is permitted throughout. Facilities include restrooms, a shop selling charms and souvenirs, and parking. Guided tours in English are not regularly available.
