The Mosaic Tile Museum is located in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, a region that produces approximately 70% of Japan's domestic tiles. Opened in 2016, the museum was designed by renowned architect Fujimori Terunobu, known for his distinctive architectural style incorporating natural materials and whimsical forms. The building itself is an architectural landmark, featuring an exterior covered with fragments of ceramic tiles and pottery shards, creating a textured, mosaic-like surface. Tajimi's tile industry developed during the early 20th century, leveraging local clay deposits and traditional ceramic-making expertise to become Japan's leading tile production center.

The museum holds cultural significance as the only institution in Japan dedicated exclusively to mosaic tiles and their artistic applications. The collection includes over 10,000 tile samples spanning different eras, styles, and origins. Exhibits trace the evolution of tile manufacturing techniques, decorative trends, and architectural applications. The museum preserves the heritage of Tajimi's tile industry while showcasing tiles as both functional building materials and artistic media. The building's unique architecture, with its curved walls and organic forms, demonstrates how tiles can be used creatively beyond conventional flat surfaces.

Visitors can explore exhibition galleries displaying historical and contemporary tile collections, including decorative tiles, mosaic artworks, and architectural installations. The museum features a reproduction of a 1920s-era public bathhouse entirely covered in vintage tiles, demonstrating period design aesthetics. Interactive displays explain tile production processes from clay preparation through firing and glazing.

A hands-on workshop area allows visitors to create small mosaic tile projects. The museum shop sells tile-related products and locally-made ceramics. The building's interior features curved ceilings and walls creating cave-like atmospheres, with natural light filtering through tile-embedded surfaces.

Access the Mosaic Tile Museum from Tajimi Station on the JR Chuo Main Line, approximately 20 minutes by bus or 15 minutes by taxi. From Nagoya, reach Tajimi via the JR Chuo Main Line in about 40 minutes. From Tokyo, take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya Station (roughly 1 hour 40 minutes), then transfer to the Chuo Main Line. By car, use the Chuo Expressway and exit at Tajimi Interchange, located approximately 10 minutes from the museum.

三楼在维修,导致没什么项目,很快就看完了。 票价不贵,马赛克砖墙很漂亮。 停车场很大。
