Stays from
Recommended for your first two nights: a comfortable upscale base directly above Nankai Namba Station, convenient for arriving from Kansai Airport and exploring Dotonbori. This is a suggested stay, not an included booking. Compare room types, prices and cancellation terms for your dates, or swap it when customizing.
Welcome to Osaka: street food and evening lights
Estimated day duration: 13h 51mArrive in Osaka and settle into your hotel. Keep the first afternoon flexible for your arrival time, then explore the lively streets of Namba and Dotonbori. Make this your introduction to Osaka’s food culture, with time for local snacks and the illuminated canal after dark. Stay in Osaka tonight.
Suggested arrival airport for this route. Clear immigration and collect your bags, then follow the signs for Nankai trains toward Namba. Adapt the arrival point if you fly into another airport. Keep today flexible for your actual landing time.
If you arrive at Kansai International Airport (KIX), take a Nankai train to Namba. Swissotel Nankai Osaka is directly above the station. Allow time for immigration, baggage collection and the station walk, then leave your bags or check in when your room is ready. Adapt this step if you arrive elsewhere. Buy the appropriate train ticket for your selected service; no airport transfer is included automatically. Keep Dotonbori flexible this evening.
Hotel bag drop and check-in. The hotel is above Nankai Namba Station, so leave your luggage here before the evening walk to Dotonbori. Check-in depends on your room booking; early arrival does not guarantee room access. Stay here for nights 1 and 2, or replace this stop if you choose another hotel.
After leaving your bags or checking in, walk from Swissôtel Nankai Osaka through Namba to the Dotonbori canal area. Keep the evening flexible after your flight.
Best on your arrival evening, once you have checked in. Allow roughly 1–2 hours for the canal, neon signs and a relaxed meal; this is a planning estimate, so shorten it after a long flight. Explore from Namba on foot and choose food stops as you go. Meals and any cruise tickets are extra.
Return on foot to Swissôtel Nankai Osaka after dinner. Use the hotel address rather than following the canal farther into the city.
Osaka Castle and Shinsekai
Estimated day duration: 11h 5mSpend the morning around Osaka Castle and its park, then explore Shinsekai for the colorful streets and food scene featured in the video. Allow time for lunch, neighborhood wandering and a relaxed evening. This is your second night in Osaka; prepare for the move to Kyoto tomorrow. Attraction entry and meals are separate unless included in your chosen booking.
Start from your Osaka hotel after breakfast. Travel to Osaka Castle for the morning, then continue to Shinsekai in the afternoon. Return to this hotel for your second Osaka night.
Travel from the Namba area by Osaka Metro toward the Osaka Castle area, choosing the connection and station exit that suit your planned park entrance. Include the walk through the grounds.
Start Day 2 here and allow about 2–3 hours if you plan to visit the museum as well as the park. The grounds are extensive, so include walking time from the station. Check the official museum opening hours and admission before visiting; an exterior walk and museum entry are different choices. Continue to Shinsekai by public transport rather than treating the two areas as a short walk.
After the castle visit, use public transport to the Shinsekai area, served by Ebisucho and Dobutsuen-mae. Check the connection from the castle exit you use; this is not intended as a long cross-city walk.
Plan roughly 1–2 hours for the streets around Tsutenkaku and a kushikatsu meal. Ebisucho and Dobutsuen-mae stations serve this area. If you add the optional food tour below, use it for your main food experience here instead of scheduling a second full meal. Tower admission and meals are separate unless your chosen booking specifically includes them.
Walk through Shinsekai toward Tsutenkaku for the street-level landmark stop. Observation-deck entry is optional and needs its own ticket.
Use the tower as the focal point of your Shinsekai walk. Enjoy the street-level views and photographs; enter the observation deck only if you choose a separate ticket and have time. If taking the food tour, prioritize its confirmed meeting time rather than adding another long activity.
If taking the food tour, walk to the exact Shinsekai meeting point shown on your booking confirmation. Arrive before the start and treat the tour as your main food experience.
OPTIONAL BOOKABLE EXPERIENCE: a 3-hour guided food walk through Shinsekai and Dotonbori. Choose this as the guided version of your Day 2 food exploration, leaving time after Osaka Castle to reach the confirmed meeting point. It is an optional addition to the video route, not a required inclusion. Check departure times, dietary suitability, included tastings and cancellation terms before booking; skip the separate full meal if you select it.
After your Dotonbori food exploration, walk back to the Namba hotel. If your selected tour finishes elsewhere, adjust this return leg to its confirmed finishing point.
