I visited Motoyamaji Temple for the first time on a rainy day. Although it is designated as a National Treasure, the atmosphere was calm and peaceful, with very few visitors. I learned that the five-story pagoda can be climbed during a limited period — something I’d love to experience next time. Please note that the road in front of the Nio Gate can be quite busy with traffic during commuting hours, so be careful when crossing or taking photos.
The temple is approximately 30 minutes by car from Takamatsu city center via the Takamatsu Expressway. Public transportation is limited. Rental car or taxi is recommended. Free parking is available on-site.
Admission is free. Donations are accepted. Separate fees apply for goshuin (temple stamps) and purchasing amulets or prayer items.
Yes. Goshuin are available from temple staff for a small fee. Both pilgrims and general visitors can request stamps.
The temple features the main hall with Bato Kannon, traditional architecture, gardens, and walking paths. Visitors can observe temple rituals, collect goshuin, purchase amulets, and take photographs in most areas.
