Exhibitions of Echigo-jofu and Echigo-chijimi traditional textiles, Jomon period pottery with flame-like patterns, snow country life displays including traditional tools and architectural models, and information on the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale.
Echigo-jofu and Echigo-chijimi are high-quality ramie fabrics produced using labor-intensive techniques. Winter snow conditions contributed to fabric quality through natural bleaching on snow fields.
The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale features permanent art installations throughout the region year-round. Tokamachi also offers traditional textile workshops, snow country architecture, and mountain landscapes.
Limited English signage and materials may be available. The museum primarily caters to Japanese-speaking visitors. Check in advance for English guides or materials.
