Amazing city views for free, right in the heart of Shinjuku.
The North Observatory on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building offers panoramic views from about 202 meters above ground, completely free of charge. On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji and major landmarks across Tokyo, while the nighttime cityscape is especially impressive.
Access is easy via a high-speed elevator, and staff members are present for guidance and security. A café and souvenir shop in the center of the observatory make it a comfortable place to relax while enjoying the view. Although there may be brief waits for elevators or security checks during busy times, it’s an excellent stop for both tourists and locals looking to enjoy Tokyo’s skyline without spending a yen.
