Meet your guide at the Starbucks on the first floor of the Kyoto Tower Sando building, directly beside the tower entrance. Exit Kyoto Station via the Central Exit on the north side, walk straight across the bus terminal, and cross the traffic lights in front of Kyoto Tower. Your guide will be holding a Snow Monkey Resorts sign.

Arrive in Arashiyama and walk to Tenryuji Temple, the most significant temple in the Arashiyama area and a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in 1339 by Takauji Ashikaga and completed in 1345, the temple is the head temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.

Walk through the Arashiyama bamboo grove before continuing to Togetsukyo Bridge, a landmark spanning the Katsuragawa River that has marked the Arashiyama area for over 400 years. The current bridge was rebuilt in 1934. Your guide will explain the history of both sites during the walk.

Enjoy a lunch break along the riverfront in Arashiyama, where a variety of restaurants and food stalls are available. Guests who finish before the meeting time may browse the nearby shopping street. Lunch is not included in the tour price.

Take part in a guided koboshi doll-making session. Koboshi are traditional Japanese dolls dating back to the 14th century, considered good luck charms representing resilience. Each guest creates their own doll to take home.

Travel to Ryoanji Temple, home to Japan's most famous karesansui dry rock garden. Originally an aristocratic villa during the Heian period, the site was converted into a Zen temple in 1450. Your guide will explain the history and philosophy of the rock garden during the visit.

Visit Kinkakuji Temple, officially known as Rokuonji, a Zen temple complex centered on the iconic Golden Pavilion. One of the most visited buildings in Kyoto, the gold-leafed pavilion sits within a landscaped garden and pond.

Travel back to JR Kyoto Station by public transport, where the tour concludes. Guests who wish to remain in the city center may do so — please inform the guide before the return journey begins.

The tour involves several hours of walking across five sites in western Kyoto, connected by public transport between districts. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are essential throughout the day.
