자주 묻는 질문
This experience takes place in a private home with a locally born instructor who also teaches Japanese residents. It’s not a tourist show but a genuine lesson where you can appreciate authentic traditions, seasonal decorations, and utensils rarely seen elsewhere.
The class lasts about one hour. It includes a demonstration by the instructor, a chance to enjoy the prepared tea and sweets, and your own tea-making session.
You are welcome to take photos at appropriate times. However, video recording is not allowed during the instructor’s demonstration to maintain concentration and respect for the tradition.
Please wear or bring socks, and choose comfortable long pants or a long skirt since the ceremony takes place on tatami mats. Avoid short skirts or shorts, as they may damage the mats.

Aya welcomed us into our home and it was beautiful
She spent her time explaining the importance and the meaning behind each step and actions
And it literally felt like if I was some fuedual samurai being served tea honourably.
It was a truly wonderful and cultural experience
Will 100% recommend
It's more authentic than the other tea ceremony
Because you're not being treated as a tourist but a genuine guest.

Authentic Tea Ceremony Experience
I am so relieved we chose this experience over the more touristy large group tea ceremonies. Aya-san was an incredible teacher, and it was a pleasure to both connect as humans and to learn about the history and meaning of the tea ceremony. If you are looking for a meaningful cultural experience with delightful tea, sweets, conversation, and more, I would recommend going with Sakura!
