Freshly made chips are available here. Many interesting flavours, quite yummy.
Can take away, or dine in. But the dining are is a bit small.
It's located at Tokyo Station, recommend to try 😀
On January 16, 2024, prior to my late dinner, I visited the Calbee Plus store located within Tokyo Station's First Avenue shopping area, specifically inside Tokyo Okashi Land near the Yaesu Central Entrance.
Arriving around 7 PM, I was disappointed to find that their freshly made, cut, and fried potato chips were already sold out—perhaps due to my late arrival.
The store was brightly lit and offered an extensive array of Calbee products, many of which are exclusive to Japan or limited editions not available elsewhere.
The selection included unique flavors such as Kamaage chips seasoned with katsuo-dashi and salt, Tokyo curry-flavored Jagabee, taco rice flavor, chocolate-coated chips, sweet butter flavor, anchovy chips, and many more varieties I'd never encountered before.
As a Calbee enthusiast, the temptation to purchase all 20-30 unique flavors was strong.
I wished the store provided samples, given the vast selection, to assist customers in making choices.
On the plus side, the prices were notably lower than those in my home country, where similar products in stores like Daiso and Don Don Donki are at least two to three times more expensive.
For tourists, the store offers tax refunds, so it's advisable to have your passport and payment method ready.
Calbee was established in 1949 in post-war Hiroshima, aiming to provide nutritious food to the population. The name "Calbee" is a portmanteau of "calcium" and "vitamin B1," reflecting the company's commitment to health.
Over the years, Calbee has become Japan's leading snack manufacturer, known for popular products like Kappa Ebisen and a wide range of potato-based snacks.
In summary, the Calbee Plus store at Tokyo Station is a must-visit for snack enthusiasts seeking exclusive and affordably priced treats.
To enjoy their freshly prepared potato chips, it's best to visit earlier in the day.
The freshly made chips is definitely a must try. If you come during opening time, only the stick version is available, wait around for about 30 minutes for the chips as well. If you want to get souvenirs, the calbee chips are great quality with really fun packaging.
Cash & Transportation cards accepted on the ticket vending machine. Credit card not accepted.
Ticket vending machine has 4 different languages - Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.
Recommend to just get the Poterico Salad! It cost 340 yen and 430 (for the big). Comes out hot and delicious 🖤 the chips are just okay, can skip!
