What other travelers are saying about Forest Adventure CHICHIBU
It was a lot of fun, the value was good for the cost. Staff were great!
cash only, you can book in advance. Easy to understand explanation of how to use the equipment. Make sure to arrive 30mins early to get ready.
Would recommend clothes you're happy with getting dirty, and decent sport / hiking shoes.
Most routes are easy to walk, but some require a little strength, though you can just rest on your harness through them if need be.
As the tourism ambassador of Chichibu, I came to experience this forest adventure for the first time ! Great experience with all my friends to celebrate my birthday ! The adventure course is approximately 1h30-2h and it’s really fun to do in a group! We were 7 of us and we had great fun 🤩!
You have to reserve in advance online. And pay by CASH ONLY (¥3800 per person ) on location ( be careful ). This time the lady at the counter wasn’t the nicest and I was disappointed for this part of the experience.
You need LONG PANTS and covered shoes and ideally clothes that can get dirty !! Also I advice you to have bug repellent and bring gloves 🧤 for the grip (if not they sell it for ¥300) actually not bad !
You have to read an explanation on IPad on how to do first and then do some first trial and you’ll be ready.
My friends were afraid of heights but I think it’s a great place to overcome your fear of heights as you will were either way a harness that will protect you from falling !
If you feel to sick you can always quit in the middle of adventure but it’s great fun to continue !!
It’s about 12 min cab ride (¥2600) from the Seibu Chichibu station. You should reserve w cab For the way back to the station as there are no cabs for the forest adventure. Or you can take the bus but it takes off only every half hour so makes it more difficult…
Kids too young can’t do it so watch out !
There is also a camp of chalet and clamping / onsen 🏕 next door you can book for those who want to stay over ! -> PICA CHICHIBU !
You’ll have great deal of fun !

The Adventure Course requires participants to be at least 140 cm tall or in elementary school grade 4 and above, with anyone under 18 years old needing adult accompaniment. The Canopy Course is more accessible, accepting children from 110 cm in height or approximately 4 years old, though younger participants must be accompanied by a guardian throughout the course. Weight restrictions also apply, with a maximum limit of 130 kg for safety equipment compatibility.
The Adventure Course typically takes 2 to 3 hours to complete depending on your fitness level, confidence, and group size. The Canopy Course is shorter, generally requiring 1 to 1.5 hours from start to finish. These times include the initial safety briefing and equipment fitting, which takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes before you begin navigating the actual obstacles. Plan for additional time if visiting during peak periods when courses may be busier.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows free movement, including long pants rather than shorts for protection against rope burns. Closed-toe sports shoes or sneakers are mandatory—sandals, heels, and open-toed footwear are strictly prohibited. Gloves are provided by the park, but you may bring your own work gloves if preferred. Remove all jewelry, watches, and loose items before starting, and bring a small bag for storing valuables as lockers are available. Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended for outdoor comfort.
No previous climbing experience is necessary as full safety instruction and equipment are provided, and staff members are positioned throughout the courses to offer guidance. However, participants should honestly assess their comfort with heights, as the Adventure Course reaches 15 meters above ground and requires self-motivation to complete. The Canopy Course offers a gentler introduction at lower heights for those with mild height concerns. The park cannot accommodate participants once they've started if they become too frightened to continue, so consider starting with the easier course if uncertain.
Forest Adventure CHICHIBU operates throughout the year, though specific opening days vary by season, with more limited schedules during winter months. The park closes during heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, or other severe weather conditions for safety reasons. If weather conditions deteriorate after your arrival, activities may be suspended and rescheduling or refunds are typically offered. Always check the official website or contact the park directly on the day of your visit if weather appears questionable, as conditions can change rapidly in mountainous areas.
