Fumin no Mori Narukawa Garden

Fumin no Mori Narukawa Garden is one of nine Osaka Prefectural Nature Parks established to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Osaka Prefecture within the Kongo-Ikoma-Kisen Quasi-National Park. Located on Mount Ikoma, this mountain garden represents part of a comprehensive conservation effort to preserve the natural beauty of the region while providing public access to pristine forest environments.

The garden's primary attraction is its spectacular 500-meter winding hiking path lined with thousands of azalea bushes that bloom in vivid pink and purple during spring. These azaleas grow in dense formations, some reaching heights of over 5 feet, creating an immersive corridor of color that visitors can walk through. The carefully maintained trail follows the natural contours of the mountainside, offering multiple viewing perspectives of the floral displays.

Beyond the azaleas, visitors can ascend to Bokura no Hiroba (Our Plaza), an open hilltop space that provides panoramic views across the Osaka Plain, Osaka Bay, Mount Rokko, and Awaji Island. The garden also features wild cherry blossoms that bloom earlier in spring, creating a succession of seasonal displays. The site includes the accessible Raku-raku Trail, designed with gentle slopes to accommodate senior citizens, families with strollers, and wheelchair users.

Narukawa Garden is accessible only on foot via hiking trails, requiring approximately 45 minutes from Kintetsu Hiraoka Station on the Nara Line. Alternative access includes an 80-minute hike from Kintetsu Ishikiri Station. Admission is free, though parking and facilities are unavailable during closure periods.
