What other travelers are saying about Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory
If you were a fan or conan, you must visit this conan's road, conan's Station as well as the museum. Many decorations are found along the conan's road, the Yuraeki 由良駅 is decorated as conan's station. The museum displays the original comics, sculptures and games for visitors to enjoy.
Super fair price, definitly of interest for every Detective Conan Fan. The statues are nice, you learn something about the mangaka and you can take a quiz on your phone. There is a minigame where you can ride on Conans skateboard (I wasn't very good a it though^^')
For Conan fans, this museum is a treasure trove—you’ll be thrilled! Even for non-fans like us, it’s far from boring. The museum features interactive displays explaining detective puzzles from the series and showcases plenty of Aoyama’s original hand-drawn artwork. Admission is 700 yen for adults, with a 100-yen discount for foreign passport holders. Though it spans two floors, the exhibition space is small, and you can finish in about 30 minutes. A slightly lower ticket price would make it even more appealing. Conan enthusiasts, this is a must-visit!
I am not a fan of Detective Conan, but visited with an enthusiastic friend.
I still think this is a GREAT museum! It's interactive and pretty interesting for anyone. I enjoyed the experience and learned something new.
In the gift shop, we got purikura sticker picture to commemorate the visit. They also have exclusive items for sale. Many nice photos opportunities 📸
great staff and stunning little museum for any conan fan. we came all the way from france to hokuei and it took us hours to drive from osaka, but it was worth it! make sure to come early to the city, we arrived at 3pm and everything shuts town at 5:30 or before. we had to rush because there is a lot to be seen in the town, and the cafés are very immersive and great.
the prices of everything are very reasonable, from museum ticket to souvenirs to coffees and snacks in the conan cafés.
The Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory is a museum dedicated to manga artist Gosho Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan. Located in his hometown of Hokuei, Tottori Prefecture, the facility opened in March 2007 and features original manuscripts, interactive detective games, recreated scenes from the manga, and exhibitions showcasing Aoyama's creative process and career.
Admission to the museum costs ¥700 for adults, ¥500 for junior high and high school students, and ¥300 for elementary students. Children under elementary school age can enter for free. The ticket includes access to all permanent exhibitions, interactive areas, and the viewing theater.
The museum is accessible from JR Yura Station on the San'in Main Line, which is approximately 18 minutes by train from Tottori Station. From Yura Station, you can walk for about 20 minutes or take a taxi. The Hokuei Town Loop Bus also stops directly at the facility, providing convenient access for visitors without a car.
While the museum is designed primarily for Detective Conan fans, visitors with general interest in manga creation, Japanese pop culture, or interactive museums can still find it engaging. The exhibits explain Aoyama's artistic techniques and the manga industry, and the detective-themed puzzles and games are entertaining regardless of familiarity with the series. However, deeper appreciation comes with knowledge of the characters and stories.
The Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory provides English signage throughout the facility and offers English audio guides to help international visitors navigate the exhibitions. However, most detailed information panels and interactive content are primarily in Japanese, so non-Japanese speakers may miss some nuanced explanations about specific storylines and character details.
