The beach holds significant literary importance as the inspiration for the famous poem "Yashinomi" (Coconut) by renowned Japanese writer Toson Shimazaki. In 1898, folklorist Kunio Yanagita discovered a coconut washed ashore during his month-and-a-half stay at Cape Irago. He shared this discovery with his friend Shimazaki Toson, who then used it as inspiration for his acclaimed literary work, cementing the beach's place in Japanese cultural history.
